"Home Alone"

This is the last episode of the year. But it is funny. This starts as both Huey and Riley fight. It always happens. Me and my brother fought when we were children. They go on and on until they reach the bathroom where Grandad takes a shower. This is where Grandad takes a vacation out of this madness. But he doesn't leave Tom, who wanted to go to Costa Rica with Grandad. Meanwhile, the episode shows that the boys have a history of not being nice. Once, their was a strict nanny, but was ousted for "violating the rules." But once Grandad was gone, the boys turned nasty. Huey took charge in a big way. That meant kicking Riley's ass quite a bit. Riley became ignorant, and tried to defy Huey. But Huey became more authoritarian and decided to take matters into his own hands. Meanwhile, Grandad did not had a good time in Costa Rica. Too much loud noise and party was the downfall of the old man. The boys, initially baby-sitted by Uncle Ruckus, continued their clash until Grandad comes home. And everything was OK. The next episode is on January 7th, 2008, where everybody goes back to work and school. Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 9

"Invasion of the Katrinans"

Have you ever wanted to get rid of your aunts or uncles as fast as you want to invite them? If this fits your answer, then this episode was for you. This episode also had to do with the after effects of Hurricane Katrina. And the focus was on Jericho Freeman and his relatives from New Orleans. Jericho is Grandad's cousin and as you know, there lives were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. What makes it worse is the fact that the government basically fails Jericho and the family. This episode had Cedric "The Entertainer," and Lil' Wayne--who is a native of New Orleans as guest voices. Grandad hasn't seen Jericho in nearly 40 years. And we will see why Grandad--and the boys don't want to see them. The episode progressively gets worse as Jericho and his family sit and watch TV. They don't find themselves to be better. It even angers Huey. Riley really does not trust them. And Jericho get a fight with Uncle Ruckus. Add this all up and both Grandad, Huey, and Riley find a way to get rid of the "refugees." When Jericho gets his FEMA check, they decide to leave and find another place. The episode had plenty of conflict and social falsh points that can relate to people in New Orleans in both positive and negative way. Not all people act like Jericho, but there are some that survive in desperate situation. The situation is that New Orleans will take years to recover with major changes on the way. It also will be a darkhorse issue in the 2008 U.S. Presidential Elections.

Writer's Strike

I know that there is going to be no settlement in the WGA Writer's Strike for quite a while. Here what it needs to happen -- shake 'em all. Both the Writer's Guild (WGA) and The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) need to be shaken to the core. To my perspective, they are acting like children. There so many mistakes on both sides here to get the American people confused. For one, the WGA has an inexperienced negotiator who wants to be confrontational with other people. The other is from studios who do not have the ability--or do not want to change--their ways. There are several issues that are factoring into why this strike is going on. The big one, however, is residuals over new media. The other issues can be taken care of in a quick manner. In fact, before this strike, both of them had many issues that were nearly resolved. However, I believe that both sides are going to be damaged for a very long time if the strike goes into January of February 2008. And the way that these failed negotiations came out, it is time for some new ideas. For one, I believe that both sides need to come out in public. The reason is that both sides have been meeting in "undisclosed locations," but not much information is coming out of these meetings. Both side are giving only their side of the account, which is completely frustrating. Here is how they need to do this in public: 1) Both sides need to re-start negotiations. 2) Have a press conference 3) Get a hard ass third party negotiator or a federal mediator is who is extremely tough and fair mined. This person must also know the way Hollywood works, not someone here who has little or no experience of bargaining. 4) Make the negotiations this time public. Tell the public which area that both sides will be meeting on so that the media would be notified. 5) This is where it gets difficult. Prepare to pack some clothes, because they are going to be staying for as long as possible. That is what I believe should happen until this messy situation gets RESOLVED!

Time Changes on top

If you take a look at the top of the page, you will notice that I put eight time zone clocks in place. The first one is for the Pacific Time Zone (Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco). The second is the Eastern Time Zone (New York, Washington). The next time is WET, or the time it is now in London, England. The fourth and final time is AEDT, or the time it is now in Sydney, Australia. The other four times will show the exact time for Moscow, Europe, Japan, and Hong Kong.

The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 8

"Ballin'"

This is why Riley is not a team player. And this episode shows why. Riley's tremendous ability to play basketball is seen in both Grandad and Tom. And so is Riley's skills. Tom realizes it and plans to put Riley in the little league of basketball. And when Riley joins the team, his selfish attitude emerges quickly. He's already late for practice. ("I don't need practice!") Riley also has a weakness. He does not shoot the ball well. This is where Riley breaks down. This is where Tom and Grandad stress to him that he needs practice. He tries in other basketball games, but it fails. Then, he goes up against a girl. That is where Riley improves on his skills on this critical game. He carries the ball at the last second--and scores to win the game. But now has to face a nerd, who can shoot the three. Riley's team loses and is defeated. This is where he learns the game of basketball.

The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 7

"Shinin' "

Let's see, Thugnificent is back. And Riley wants to be in a gang. The first show a "Cribs" tour of the ignorant rapper. The word "bitch" and "n***a" are in every sentence. Now, back to the Riley. An eight-year-old child being corrupted in the system. In order to join to the "family", he needs to go through the rules. But, Riley is being test by the "n***a" standard. Huey sets him straight by advising him not to do it. He gets "chain" by Thugnificent. But it gets stolen by a big white thug. And Riley gets beaten up by him. Grandad tells him not to get the chain back. Huey again tells him not to do it. Then he talks to Ed, who kidnaps an innocent white kids. The big white thug, Butch Magnus still has the chain, but returns it back and beats one of Thugnificent's thugs with a bat. The item was worthless. Riley got the chain back with a n***a hurting.

The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 6

"Attack of the Killer Kung-Fu Wolf Bitch"
(aka "Fatal Attraction: Invasion of that Flat Booty Young Bitch")

This is why I put the second title, because she is one tough bitch. I'm talking about Luna, the latest date from Grandad. And also, she is also Kung-Fu trained, with deadly results. And this peaks the interest of Huey. He becomes very suspicious of Luna. And turns out, he is right. A fight ensues, and Huey is beat down. Luna is still pursuing Grandad, and locks him, Huey, and Riley in the house. She becomes psycho and tries to kill all of them. They tried to find a way to get out of this situation. It worked, but Luna goes back with a scorn. Spied on both him and Ruckus. Luna captures him and the boys. Tom goes by the house and is smacked by Luna. We soon find out why Luna has issues with men with her past. Runs away and kills herself. All by her "advice" of the girlfriend. Damn. That some sick S**T!

The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 5

"The Story of Thugnificent"

(Aka 50 Cent comes to Wisteria Lane)

This episode is focused on a fictional character, Thugnificent. Yes, a cartoon imitation of 50 Cent. The first two minutes basically showed him where he grew up. Let just say that all of the ghettos in the United States look like PG compared of what this rapper came from. And when he comes to the Boondocks, it is going down. Both Huey and Grandad don't like him. Especially Grandad. And you will see why. Offensive is the most nicest term that I can describe this rapper. He calls every foul name in the book. The "b" word, the "n" word, etc. All of them except Riley, who idolizes him in a big way. Riley goes into Thugnificent's massive home, who is having a party no less. But Grandad is mortified because his front yard is ruined. Files a complaint, and a war ensues. Now Sway (one of the best Vee Jay's in the San Francisco Bay Area) narrates it in his MTV style. A rap video is made dissing Grandad. But Xzhibit comes into play and Grandad wants to get revenge by rapping. Gets the song in You Tube and puts some controversy of the rapper. Headlines comes out this and a conference between Thugnificent and Grandad. The conference ended on somewhat "cordial" note. Do we see a connection between this episode and beefs in the hip-hop world? You decide.

The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 4

"Stinkmeaner Strikes Back"

Aka "The N***a Movement, Part II- The Black Exorcist"

Please see last season's "Grandad's Fight," and you will see why this is an important reference. Rapper Ghostface Killah makes an excellent appearance as a ghost who provides Huey a key element on how to stop the spirit of the Stinkmeaner, who Grandad Freeman killed last season. He makes an appearance nevertheless to haunt Grandad. The episode starts with Stinkmeaner being in hell, and decides to take over the body of mild mannered Tom. This episode goes crazy of what we now call his "n***a movement." Stinkmeaner-- via Tom-- terrorizes people, but goes to Grandad in order to make his revenge complete. One Stinkmeaner terrorizes Grandad, who is using the bathroom. This continues when Huey and Riley came in to stop him. A fight between Huey and Stinkmeaner fight with strikes blown on each side. However, the family decides to trap and tie Stinkmeaner, through Tom again, on Riley's bed. This brings ignorant Ruckus, who is acting as a priest, to the forefront. A beatdown is ensued on Tom in order to break Stinkmeaner's spirit down, but nothing is working. Huey, through Ghostface's advise, finally breaks Stinkmeaner down by using "peaceful tactics." Tom is brought back to life and Riley complains about his bed being riled. This episode should have been n***a moment, part two.

The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 3 (The Stop Snitching Episode)

"Thank You for Not Snitching"
(STOP SNITCHING, STOP LYING!)

This episode has one common theme. To snitch or not to snitch. Huey perfectly explains the theme of stop snitching within the black community. About 1 and 12 people is an active informant, or snitch. This is according to Huey. Now add one twist, the episode had a group that encourages snitching ("Woodcrest Neighborhood Watch"). Ruckus is one of those people. Grandad Freeman is not pleased. The situation gets complicated when Riley witnesses two vandals steal Grandad's car. And Grandad is pissed. Riley had to make a choice, to snitch or not to snitch. But was almost did by that fact he was going to get an ass whipping by Grandad. Both Riley and Grandad had to go to the police for questioning. They could be in serious trouble. However, the vandals had to go back to Grandad. The Vandals where Ed Wuncler's relatives. They were trying out for security purposes. At the end, Riley got his bicycle stolen by the same tandem. Pretty simple. It's damned if you do snitch, damned if you don't snitch.

Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 2 (The Usher Affair)

"Tom, Sarah, and Usher"

And all that for Jazmine wanting to see Usher. Tom had a major misunderstanding, which will cause headaches for his family. The story starts when Sarah has an innocent encounter with Usher, which made Tom to think otherwise. His jealousy starts to deepen, and Sarah knows it. When the fight starts to turn intense, Sarah decided to get out of the car (Tom was driving when he stopped via Sara's angry request.) after that fight. Tom decides to go over the Freeman's to talk it over. Huey again play the middle, while the rest of them, especially Riley and Ruckus, start telling him to leave her. Tom decides to go back to his wife and talk it over, again. Did not go well. Tom spends the night, and sings this awful version of "Burn" by Usher. Meets with Slickback (or "A Pimp Name Slickback") (Katt Williams' terrific return) and decides to confront Usher for all of this, which again goes horribly wrong. Poor Jasmine. As for thoughts and analysis, this is the first real focus at the Dubois family. The Freemans take a back seat to this. And for all of this, the theme was trust and understanding. Tom really needs to have a big dose here before he assumes any further thinking. Jazmine is once again victimized once again. Sarah, however, is the most normal out-of-all of the Dubois characters, which is why I believe she will put a foot down in Tom in try to slapping him into sense. Speaking of which, next week is going to be good. It's entitled "Thanks for Not Snitching," but a better title would be "STOP SNITCHING, STOP LYING-THE RILEY VERSION!" But I also see an ass whipping coming up!

The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 1

"...Or Die Trying"

Finally, almost two long years, The Boondocks is back for this much anticipated second season. And this wait is well worth it. I think now that the creator, Aaron McGruder, has decided to no longer stick with his comic strip of the series and focus more on the T.V. series. (Which will be even edgier than ever) Plus, the animation and graphics are much better than the first season. Now to the episode. The first few minutes show a preview of a move that is the pretend version of the parody, Soul Plane. If you have watched the actual movie, which I have not watched, this generated so much controversy because of the negative portrayals of African Americans. The parody is called Soul Plane 2: The Black Jacking.
In a weird way, this connects to 09/11, but it seems that the black passengers tend to beat up those terrorists who are trying to repeat a 09/11-style attack. It is also funny to the eyes of Grandad and Riley Freeman, but not Huey. (Refresher on the Freemans, Huey is the smart, intellectual radical. Riley is the thug-in-training. Grandad "Jebediah" is still the smart ass grandfather who can and will use that belt on the boys. Expect some ass whippings this season.)
Along the way, Jazmine Dubois (still scared) comes along, but is told not to see the movie. Riley and Grandad tricked her to see it, anyway. And they don't pay for the movie tickets. They sneak in. Grandad has an especially harsh paranoia about going to the movies, which Huey perfectly points out, but still sees them. Not tickets is probably the way that Grandad gets even. They also bring in some "home cooked" food in another way of why they do not pay at the concessions stand. (And they can be expensive.) Oh, I forgot to tell you, Uncle Ruckus is the boss in the cinema. (Another refresher, he was struck in by the thunder and lighting at the end of the season because of his arrogance and hatred of black people, even if he is black. Should have killed the character, but he may be saved just to get even more blasted.)
They go along watching the movie, except Huey and Jazmine. She cried like hell because she watched some ads saying that stealing in movies is wrong. This includes a cold-hearted movie ad where a criminal just beat an elderly woman almost to death, supposedly symboling the message. Riley was using his camera to bootleg the whole movie.
Huey, on the other hand, had a mission to stop people from watching Soul Plane 2. Now the fake movie stars the same people who were in the film, including Snoop Dogg and Monique reprising their roles. Huey sneaked out of the theater and took his plan into action, until a red line caught him. At the same time, there were two security guards that were looking for anyone who did not pay a ticket.
Surprising, Jazmine started watching move and liked it. She lost her meal, which did not pleased Grandad. Started to get some movie popcorn. Once there, he asked the worker to butter up his popcorn. The worker showed him the popcorn concession. Grandad bragged about too much. Ruckus was there in two spots. First, he spotted Grandad in the usual suspicious way because he did not pay to see the movie.
Huey continued to have his troubles once he caught trying to stop the movie. Then, Grandad had Huey's weapon's and urged him to fight. Chaos ensued, which eventually result in all of them being caught, which made Jazmine once again. But they got word the workers were unionized and everyone was fired. That made Ruckus angry that he hadn't put all of them in jail, which made the Freeman's and Jazmine happy. But Huey had one more mission to whip Ruckus ass', which made the ending more satisfying.
I expect to see a lot more action with Huey, especially with his smarts combined with training. Riley will continue to be dumb and embrace the thug culture. And as I mentioned, expect more ass whippings that will directly be at the expense of Huey from Grandad. Jazmine will still be scared.
I am also looking forward to seeing this being more political, especially with the 2008 Presidential Election coming near, which will cause some uproars. Look for the "Don Imus" event to come up and the creator expects to create jokes at the expense of Usher and Tyler Perry. But the political aspect is what I am looking forward to see. I like see Mr. McGruder use his show to create more potent punches at the issues here on both parties. I also like the intensity of his political incorrectness to go up a bit, since he let go of his comic strip job. I really like to see him use those themes particularly on right-wingers or Republicans. The animation is much clearer and sharper than the first season, which was done by a Korean animation studio. Be warned, this season will be fun and political. P.S., I like to see Aaron McGruder go on "Real Time" again this season with Bill Maher.
