Thoughts on last night's speech

To me, this President has to do better on many areas. Speeches are only promises, but there needs to be results. And to me, David Brooks on the PBS' NewsHour had it RIGHT ON the money. He indicated that the Republicans are going to have to look at themselves and be forced to talk about the sacrifices that people need to make. At the SAME TIME, though, they also need to talk about race. Yes, race, poverty and tolerance. That is the ONE area that the GOP needs to look at and take some significant lumps. For many years, the GOP has had a hard time wooing blacks to their party because they do the same S**t that would make blacks very angry to the GOP, especially the conservatives. Now is the time that the GOP need to face this, because right now--the American people will be watching them like a HAWK to see what they do next. One small mistake, mess-up, or DELIBERATE AND VINDICTIVE act could mean the end for the GOP. Things have changed dramatically for the GOP and they have better watch out. This is also where the Democrats NEED TO STEP UP on their game!!!! There roles need to be watchdogs and tell the American people what the GOP is up to. Somehow, I have the felling that the GOP may be up to NO GOOD. Well, the American people and the mainstream media (CNN, MSNBC, NBC News) will no doubt act like a watchdog. Because the period of silence IS OVER! No more getting away with all of the political bulls***t that GOP has been for the past couple of years. And they will feel the wrath come next year if they don't act up on it real soon.
