WHO'S ACCOUNTABLE?

That is what I want to know! Try explaining that to the black community.

That is the headline from CNN. Those who think that race isn't an issue in this horrible situation--then YOU HAVE BETTER THINK AGAIN! I cannot tell you why race is so important in this critical moment in time. The Deep South has some of biggest poverty rates in the country. And yet, it is also the region where they have approved of Bush's conservative philosophy. The Northeast, parts of the Midwest and the Pacific Coast (California included) are strongly--AND I DO MEAN STRONGLY--disapprove of them. The city of New Orleans, now literally ruined, will take years to rebuild. IT also reminded us that the city had 28% of the population living in poverty or well below the poverty line. The other two gulf states (AL and MS) had poverty rates at nearly 20%. This is an issue that needs to be addressed, NOW! Not tomorrow, not next week, but NOW. For those conservatives who live in wealthy la-la land, it is OVER. Everybody will be paying the price for Katrina's rage. And it will be a major issue for the 2006 midterm elections and 2008 presidential elections.
