The Boondocks
About Episode 6

This was all about Riley and the so-called rapper named Gangstalicious (voiced by Mos Def). You clearly that Gangstalicious had a problem--a huge problem. He, like rapper 50 Cent, had been shot multiple times. And clearly his enemies are out to kill him. This posed a problem for Riley, who thinks Gangstalicious is a god. Both Huey and Robert (Grandad) have none of it. Riley used a pretty lame excuse to go to the hospital to see the embattled rapper. There he meets him, but so are his foes. And then the shooting starts. Riley, which in very clear terms becomes very ignorant at this point, rides along with Gangstalicious knowing that he and Riley will be caught red handed. At this point, both are now feeling that they will get killed by their gangsta rapper foes. But one of the main arch rivals is his former "partner" who give a passionate kiss. Riley hates it, and HATES IT WITH A PASSION! Plus the fact is that he is eight years old. The rivals go blazing--shooting him, but misses. They chase him around, leaving Riley to go home. By the time Riley is home, Robert is clearly pissed and will give Riley an "ass whuppin'." Huey does not believe in Riley also. That is basically what the episode reveals. And boy it was revealing. Somewhere in my head, you think that Kayne West is right all along. He told Sway (who was also a guest voice in this episode) that he thinks that the opposite of hip-hop is gay. And you know what, he may be right. Right before the episode, the newly digital cable channel LOGO premiered "The Adovcate," which is a serious newsmagazine for gay and lesbian audiences. They had a piece on Kayne West that criticized the hip-hop community for being homophobic. What an irony. The gay aspect in this episode is going to open a lot of eyes and prove once again that people with the most homophobic attitudes are often the most aroused to homosexual feelings. In happens in politics, entertainment, and certainly in real life. In a way, Aaron McGruder unintentionally opened up two major subjects that deal with this subject in the post 09/11 world, rivaly and homosexuality in the hip-hop community. Also, Brian Williams just bitchslapped President Bush by showing him both Time and Newsweek as "visual aids."
