The Boondocks- Season 1 Recap

It has been a long month-and-a-half when I last blogged. Time to recap the last three episodes of the show's first season.

Wingman
You really have to feel sorry for both Huey and Grandad (aka Robert) Freeman. I really felt that they should whip that ass of their 'so-called' friends. The Freeman's had to go back to Chicago--where Huey and Riley were raised--for a funeral that concerned Robert's war buddy. That buddy had made Grandad a living hell, but at the same time had an ugly wife. Good thing Grandad did not go out for her. As for Huey, his so-called friends teased him because he to that 'white neighborhood' that is home for him. Huey was not pleased, and so started punching people out. He got his ass whipped at the end. (Actually got punched in the face, and vice versa) Jasmine teased Huey for the broken nose. (Jasmine is going to get hers....next episode!) Riley was his usual thug self, but also helped Huey in the art of whuppin' ass.

The Block is Hot
If I were Jasmine, I would have wait until at least 14 years to learn what slave labor is. Because she has learned exactly what it is--all for a real pony. Ed Wuncler was up to no good again abusing Jasmine mentally. Jasmine had to sell lemon ice pops for a $1.00 in an usually hot February. Huey puts out again a newspaper with his views as a radical. Riley was being a thug once again, and Jasmine continues to sell ice pops without any breaks. Poor Jasmine. Is there any break that could help her realize that she is being abused? Luckily, the place burned down--chaos ensued, and once again winter returns to form.

The Passion of Rev. Ruckus
The season finale exceeded its expectations. If you want to have controversy, then controversy it is. Uncle Ruckus was as ignorant then his appearance. And you wonder why God struck him with a bolt of lighting. HE praises white people, while talking bad about black people. And he is doing this preaching in a church. What goes around, comes around. Meanwhile, Huey wasted no time in freeing a man who is about to be executed. He spent the whole day trying to prove that this person was innocent. Nothing. At the last minute, where everything seems lost. Huey prayed-- as a result of it, the dead-man walking convict had a second chance of life. Riley was going all out of his thug nature, while Grandad and Tom tryed to stop Ruckus from his vile preachings.

And this note to pass...if you are looking for new episodes of the comic strip version, wait for another six months. Aaron McGruder is taking a break because of the burnout of two successful versions of his creation. Look for the comic version to return in September. And look for season two to begin in early 2007.
