NBC News: Slight bounce in approval...But also a bounce in disapproval

NBC/ Wall Street Journal Poll
June 9th-12th, 2006

Bush
Approval : 37%
Disapproval :58%

Control of Congress
Democrats : 49%
Republicans: 38%

Bush has had a one-point bounce in his approval ratings, but it is also true in his disapproval ratings. Furthermore, the Democrats gained a 11-point lead in who will control the U.S. Congress in the 2006 elections. Iraq leads as the biggest issue (53%), however illegal immigration comes in second (32%). To me, the issue of illegal immigration will be the wild card in all of this on whether or not the GOP gets its act together. And Karl Rove will have a very tough time with the House GOP on this. Because they aren't taking any prisoners. They are going after both Rove and the President on this one (aka cut-throat). The problem with the GOP is that they will lose the Latino vote, which is the fastest growing voting block in the U.S. I think now that this is decision time for the GOP to either become the 'big tent' party, or become the truly intolerant that many people see today. It's their choice, just don't ask why in 30 years why they cannot get that block, like blacks or gays. They will regret it. There are a lot more interesting finds in the poll.
