The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 13

"The Story of Gangstalicious, Part 2"

If you do not know the story of the faux rapper, Gangstalicious (played by the voice of Mos Def), then see season one. This will give you a telling picture about who he is on a initial level. This episode has to deal more of him and his identity. He is in fact a homosexual. Yes, but he tries to deny it to others. This is true with Thugnificent and Riley. He has a video called "Homies over Hoes." To me, it is another telling moment in his character. Another moment is when wears a pink sweater. And a final signal is that he wears those tight "tank tops" and pants. But that is just small. This episode had to deal with the issue of homosexuality in the hip-hop world. If you look at it today, it is unfortunately has a strong negative attitude toward this topic. (Ex: No Homo) But it is a problem in fact that this is one of the stigmas of people who have that negative assessment, but they have unprotected sex. No wonder blacks in the U.S. are more likely to get HIV and AIDS. This attitude needs to be examined. This is why this episode portrays a perfect situation in which Mr. McGruder puts it out like no other. The episode focuses on the reaction of the other rappers and Riley. And this was typical to what I have mentioned before. It seems that they were almost embarrassed by this perspective. We need to learn more about ourselves and our attitudes in 2008 America.
