The Boondocks, Season 2, Episode 12

"The Story of Catcher Freeman"

Note: The New York Giants has just shocked the world. They beat the New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl 42. There is going to be so much s**t talking next week. Now on to the analysis.

This episode had to deal with Grandad's great ancestors, Catcher Freeman. Both Huey and Riley did not want to listen to his story, but Grandad forces them to listen. The theme was that the boys were supposed to learn their history. We see the story somewhat from Grandad's perspective. Goes back to the 1800's, when slavery was unfortunately occurring on a regular basis. There we see a tall black man named Catcher Freeman. His plan was to escape from slavery and kill the white man. The story gets frequently interrupted by Riley. Then Ruckus a different version, which is much darker. Riley tries to mix it up, but it does not work. Huey then adds another element to this story with some evidence of this history. Catcher wrote a screenplay, but was forced by his girlfriend to kill "The Master." The girlfriend does kill "Master," and Huey ends this story. Both Catcher married his girlfriend, Belle. Moved to Canada, but the screenplay was not accepted. Boy, history can be fun.
